Discover Mioveni: Culture, Hills and Water

Mioveni is home to the Cula Racovița, a historic monument in the Racovița district. The building is 20 meters high, has three levels and walls approximately one meter thick.

Location

Mioveni lies on the left bank of the Argeșel, 2.5 kilometers from its confluence with the Râul Târgului. For its geographical location, the riverbank and the distance to the confluence can be considered as two separate reference points.

Landscape

Mioveni lies at the foot of the Pădurea Valea Mare–Colibași hill; the Vieroși and Ștefănești hills extend to the south.

The giant wooden spoon of Mioveni was officially certified by Guinness World Records on June 7, 2013. It is 17.79 meters long, 1.50 meters wide at its broadest point and decorated with traditional folk motifs.

The Biserica „Sfinții Trei Ierarhi“ is the only wooden church in Mioveni and was built in the Maramureș style.

The Constantin Năstase Ethnographic Museum in the Racoviceanu Manor displays collections in six rooms covering folk costumes, occupations, coins, art, religious artifacts, ceramics, weapons, folk art, carpentry, cooperage and blacksmithing.

The “Sf. Petru și Pavel” Cathedral in Mioveni was consecrated in summer 2012 after 20 years of collective efforts.
