The fortified military settlement at Dealul Custurii in Someșu Rece dates from the Dacian La Tène period, from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD.
Nature and Landscape
Someșu Rece lies at the foot of the Apuseni Mountains, on the lower course of the Someșu Rece River, a tributary of the Someșul Mic.
The village lies between two hills deeply cut into by the Someșu Rece River; the different geology of the mountains can be seen there.
You can view the landscape of Someșu Rece from three perspectives: along the river course, through the geology of the mountains and in the protected area on the southern slope of Corabia.
Outside the built-up area, near the village of Someșu Rece in the commune of Gilău, lies the 2.0-hectare “Cariera Corabia” protected area. It is located near the Dudae (Bârlogului) stream on the southern slope of the Corabia peak.
