Trails and Landscapes
The Bucovina section of the Via Transilvanica passes through Vatra Moldoviței. From Vatra Moldoviței, the Via Transilvanica runs through the Obcinele Bucovinei to the Mestecăniș Pass in the municipality of Pojorâta.
The narrow-gauge railway from Moldovița began as a timber transport route and is now known as the “Mocănița Huțulca”.
For cycle tourists, the recommended Pojorâta–Vama mountain bike route is described as having a medium difficulty level, a length of 111 km, and a course along paved and gravel roads. The route passes through Vatra Moldoviței between Moldovița and Frumosu.

The signposted Vatra Moldoviței–Ciumârna–Obcina Mare mountain trail is 18 km long, takes 8–9 hours, is marked in yellow, has an elevation gain of 350 metres, and is described as accessible in spring, summer, and autumn. The trail begins at Moldovița Monastery, passes the ruins of the old monastery, and climbs to Dealul Mănăstirii, offering wide views over the commune. It then leads through Ciumârna, climbs the slope of Obcina Mare, and subsequently runs back towards Vatra Moldoviței.
