The church of the Suceviţa Monastery is completely covered with 16th-century wall paintings – both its interior and exterior walls. Sucevița Monastery has high walls with battlements, heavy oak gates, and defensive towers at the corners.

Culture
The Sucevița Monastery Museum houses one of the richest and most valuable collections of medieval art in Moldavia. Its holdings include the funerary covers of the rulers Ieremia, from 1606, and Simion Movilă, from 1609, as well as a 1597 epitaph decorated with 10,000 pearls.
The north wall of the monastery church features the “Ladder of Virtues,” a large-scale iconographic composition. The 33rd step of the “Ladder of Virtues” in Sucevița is attributed to Christ. The Sucevița cemetery church was rebuilt in 1772 together with its stone bell tower.
The ethnographic museum of the “Dimitrie Vatamaniuc” School in Sucevița displays objects illustrating the way of life of the local community’s ancestors. Traditional clothing includes embroidered shirts, ițari trousers, belts or waist belts decorated with beads, fur-trimmed waistcoats, and, for women, catrințe.
The memorial monument stands at the entrance to the commune from the direction of Rădăuți, beside the road. It was erected in 1883 following the visit of Austrian Archduke Rudolf.
Nature
The Pădurea Voievodeasa forest reserve is an old mixed forest covering 102 hectares. The Sucevița Stream crosses the commune from west to east.
Trails
National road DN17A crosses Sucevița and connects Rădăuți with Câmpulung Moldovenesc. The Bucovina section of the Via Transilvanica passes through the Sucevița Depression.
Sucevița has a network of five or six Nordic walking routes of varying difficulty, with clear modern signage indicating the direction and the remaining distance. Route 05MB40 follows the tourist trail marked with a blue cross and begins in front of Sucevița Monastery.
Traditions
New Year’s customs in Sucevița include masquerades featuring goats, bears, horses, and Turks, as well as folk theatre during the winter holidays. Zilele Suceviței is celebrated every year in June. The Winter Holidays Festival is associated with 27 December.
