The Bazoș dendrological park is located in the village of Bazoșu Nou, in the commune of Bucovăț, Timiș County. Today, the Bazoș dendrological reserve extends across 60 hectares in the area of Bazoșu Nou and the commune of Bucovăț, Timiș County. It includes the Great Park, the American Park and several nurseries for exotic species; through international exchange, the botanical collection has expanded to almost 800 taxa from five continents.

Culture

The Casa Memorială a Comunei Bucovăț is a museum created by renovating a typical house from Bucovăț. Original furniture, tools and clothing from the period before the modernization of society are preserved there. Visitors can learn about an ordinary household in the Banat Plain there.

In 1790, the church in Bucovăț purchased printed books in Blaj (Transylvania): a “Penticostar” and a “Triod”. In 1909, a mixed choir was founded in Bucovăț. Thus, alongside the preserved household, the local cultural landscape includes books and communal music-making from different points in time.

Different forms of remembering and preservation meet in the local cultural landscape. The renovated house makes everyday objects and clothing accessible, while the two printed books are connected with an ecclesiastical context. The mixed choir from 1909 additionally points to communal music-making. Thus, material evidence of household life, religious printed works and an organized musical activity exist side by side in the same local context. The time span extends from the purchase of the books in 1790 to the founding of the choir in 1909; the museum, in turn, preserves objects from the period before the modernization of society.

Festivals and Culinary Traditions

The Ruga din Bucovăț takes place every year on Saint George’s Day; it includes local folklore and folk dancing. Its recurring date connects the feast day with a cultural occasion in the locality.

The Festivalul Culinar Bucovăț presents culinary products and preparations from the region, as well as local products. While the Ruga is characterized by its feast day, folklore and folk dancing, the culinary festival focuses on regional preparations and products.
