Spa Tradition

Buziaș was recognized as a spa resort in 1839 and officially as a balneoclimatic resort in 1911. At the resort, carbonated mineral water is used for external treatments in the form of heated mineral water baths and for internal treatments at the drinking fountains in the park.

Since April 2022, Buziaș has had a renovated SPA center with a semi-Olympic swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna and artificial salt cave.

Buziaș therefore offers different forms of spa stays side by side: mineral water baths, drinking fountains and the SPA center make up the wellness-related part, while the exhibition, colonnade, park, wine route and cycling route provide further independent focal points. For daily planning, these offerings can be considered separately according to their form, without equating their respective content.

Culture and Architecture

The “Iuliana Folea Troceanu” folk art exhibition is located in the childhood home of the artist and collector after whom it is named. It comprises 900 museum objects, including traditional garments and textiles.

The garments and textiles in the collection come from the Buziaș area and other places in Banat and date from 1860 to 1925. The exhibition therefore covers both the specific location of Buziaș and other Banat-related references, as well as a clearly defined historical period.

The Buziaș Colonnade is a 500-meter-long wooden structure in the Byzantine architectural style and is considered unique in Europe. It was built in 1875 at the request of Emperor Franz Joseph.

The Buziaș Colonnade connects the Josif Spring, the Phoenix Hotel, the bazaar, the Mihai Spring and the casino. Culture and architecture thus appear here both as an exhibition in the historic building and as a long structure with several named points.

Park and Wine

The dendrological park of Buziaș covers 20 hectares and is home to many tree species; the plane tree is the most widespread.

The park is associated with the annual Festivalul Veverițelor, organized by the town hall and the Association for the Development of the Buziaș Region.

The wine route initially focused on the Silagiu–Buziaș area. In the region around Buziaș, the wine route includes tastings, vineyard tours and visits to local producers.

The park and the wine route also differ spatially: the park is described as a separate area in Buziaș, while the wine offerings are located in the surrounding region. This keeps nature, the annually organized festival and the regional producers recognizable as separate topics.

Cycling Route

The Buziaș–Nițchidorf–Buziaș route begins in the spa resort of Buziaș, returns via Vucova, Chevereșu Mare and Bacova, and is 46 kilometers long.
