Jalšovík: Hotels between the Stream and Local History
Jalšovík lies in the uplands. The municipality is bordered by hills to the east and west; the steeper slopes are covered with oak forests. The landscape, waterways and local traditions provide the three factual approaches to this place.
Nature
The Jalšovík stream rises below Žobrák and flows through the municipality. Together with its tributaries, it forms a naturally flowing, strongly meandering stream in the uplands. The riverside vegetation is predominantly continuous and locally merges into alluvial forest. West of Dolný Badín, the stream flows into the Krupinica.
Several named landscape complexes characterize the surrounding area. Horné lúky is a complex consisting predominantly of stands of woody vegetation on the slopes of the valley of the Jalšovík stream above the municipality. Kopanica – Stránička – Hrušťava – Stádliská comprises extensive semi-natural grass and herb stands: they are located on the slopes of the left part of the valley of the Jalšovík stream and its tributaries, on the ridge between the valleys of the Jalšovík and Vrbovok streams, and in the right part of the Vrbovok stream valley. Uramov laz features well-developed hornbeam-oak stands.
