Miloslavov: History, Crafts and Nature

A notable starting point for exploring the history of Miloslavov is the former church building on Námestie sv. Alžbety. Today, it is used as the Podunajský remeselný dvor and is the oldest historical monument in Miloslavov. It was built no later than the beginning of the 14th century as a church dedicated to Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia.

Culture

At the Podunajský remeselný dvor, blacksmiths, woodcarvers, weavers and potters from the surrounding area regularly demonstrate their crafts using original tools. They pass on their skills to subsequent generations. For individual visits, the courtyard is open from April to October on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Zvonica Alžbetin Dvor bell tower stands in Alžbetin Park and was built by local residents in 1947. Its construction was based on the design of a wind pump built by the farmer Jirsák. In the past, it served as a death knell and as a fire warning signal.

In Sadová Park, the settlers of Miloslavov built the first steel tower of its kind in 1935: the Miloslavov bell tower. A monument commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Miloslavov was erected near Lipový Park in 2021.

History

The founding assembly of the settlers of the Anna Majer colony took place at the Miloslavov memorial fountain on 29 June 1921. This colony was later renamed Miloslavov.

The Baptist prayer house in Miloslavov was ceremonially opened on 7 November 1926. Regular Roman Catholic services are held at the Church of Divine Mercy in Alžbetin Dvor: on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:00 pm, on Saturdays at 7:30 am, and on Sundays at 7:30 am and 10:30 am.

The Náučný chodník Miloslavov educational trail in Alžbetin Dvor begins at the ramp on the corner of Južná and Agátová. It is approximately 500 m long and includes five panels covering the seasons, local trees, an animal-tracks maze, flowers, and parents and their young.

A new cycle route was ceremonially opened, directly connecting Dunajská Lužná with the Alžbetin Dvor district of Miloslavov.
