Hotel in Lubela (Ľubeľa): Nature, Culture and Educational Cycling Route

The blue-marked N2401 educational cycling route from Vlkolínec to Pribylina passes through Ľubeľa. The village lies in the southern part of the Liptov Basin, in the Kľačianka Valley on a floodplain and on a glacial cone at the foot of the Low Tatras. Thus, Ľubeľa brings together a clearly described cycling connection and a varied landscape.

Nature

The southern mountainous part of the Ľubeľa area is predominantly covered by spruce forest; there are meadows in places. The Kľačianka stream flows through the area and rises in Liptovské Kľačany. A very small part of the Nízke Tatry National Park extends along the southern edge of the Ľubeľa cadastral area; the third level of protection applies there. There are also mineral springs in the Ľubeľa area.

Several natural and scenic destinations are located around Ľubeľa: the mountains Magura Lipče, Beran and Hľačovo, Demänovská Jaskyňa Cave and Besenova Thermal Park. In the wider regional area lies Orava Castle, a castle. Likava, a ruin, is also located nearby. Thus, the geographical setting includes individual mountains and a cave, as well as a park, a castle and a ruin.

The cadastral area of Kráľovská Ľubeľa is listed as part of the Nízke Tatry Natura 2000 site.

Village Life and Culture

The local history of the landscape includes antimony mineralization and former mines in the crystalline rocks of the Ľubeľská dolina valley. The Ľubeľafest amateur theatre festival takes place in the village every July. Two village bell towers give the villagescape different architectural forms: the brick village bell tower is a simply whitewashed square structure with a wooden upper section and a hipped roof. The wooden village bell tower, by contrast, is a vernacular square timber structure with an open upper floor and a pyramidal cap.

The reconstructed monument to the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) was ceremonially unveiled in front of the Ľubeľa cultural centre. Village life also includes two tennis courts. They were ceremonially opened in Ľubeľa on 31 August 2024 and were intended to serve pupils, young people, the public and visitors. The date and this intended purpose relate to the opening of the courts.
