Bystrička: Hiking, Culture and Hotels

Bystrička has a clear connection to cycling through the traditional Jarný šprint. The mountain time trial is open to all cyclists; the start of the 2026 race was announced for 26 April at the municipal office. As a mountain time trial, the event differs from a general cycling event while also identifying a specific starting point within the municipality.

Culture

Villa T. G. Masaryka is listed in the Central Register of Monuments of the Slovak Monument Fund under number 10851/0 as a cultural monument and was built in 1920. Tomáš G. Masaryk chose Bystrička as his summer residence.

The Hradisko archaeological site is also listed in the Central Register of Monuments of the Slovak Monument Fund under number 2195/0 as a cultural monument. The grave of those who fell in the Slovak National Uprising is likewise listed there under number 3443/0 as a cultural monument. In 1630, a Thomkovská manor house and two Lehockovská manor houses were established in Bystrička. The historic manor houses in Bystrička were later remodelled, which considerably diminished their original architectural character.

A Neoclassical manor house in Bystrička was built at the end of the 18th century and stands in the western part of Bystrička. The Hrádok folklore group takes part in cultural events and celebrations in Bystrička and outside the municipality. Fašiangy in Bystrička include a traditional village procession with masks and music; such a procession was announced for 14 February 2026 from 9:30 a.m.

Nature

Today, the higher-lying peripheral areas of Bystrička contain mainly forests, pastures and meadows instead of fields. Hikes in the Veľká Lúka area are described as offering impressive panoramas. The contrast between the fields formerly used there and today's mix of forest, pastures and meadows shapes the description of these peripheral areas. The panoramas of Veľká Lúka form part of a landscape description that mentions both the terrain and current land use.
