Hubová: Educational Trail, Culture and Hotels in the Veľká Fatra Mountains

The Hubovský okruh is an 11 km educational trail in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Hubová. It was established in 2017 by the Turistický oddiel Tramp Hubová hiking club. The trail offers information on natural science, history and culture, combining a clearly defined route with various topics related to Hubová.

Nature and Landscape

Hubová is located in the Veľká Fatra Mountains. The cemetery cross “Kríž na cintoríne” offers a view of Veľký Smrekovec, Ostré, Havran, Kopa, Kečka, Kútnikov kopec, Hubová and Švošov. In addition, the “Zastavenie v Sedle Poľana” station is located on mountain meadows above Hubová, at the “Sedlo Poľana” hiking signpost. Both points are among the specifically named landscape and trail landmarks of the area.

Culture

One of Hubová’s defining cultural monuments is the “Kostol Povýšenia Svätého Kríža” church. It is a national cultural monument and is decorated with wall paintings by Jozef Hanula from 1905. Another historic type of building is the Sýpky on the western edge of Hubová. The two traditional grain stores date from the late 19th century. They are two-room log structures on stone plinths, with shingle-covered gabled roofs and a high podlomenica. The group of granaries is situated on a slope below a wooded hill next to the main road. The “Hubovský okruh” educational trail and a yellow-marked hiking trail pass directly by it.

Cycling Routes

There are three marked cycling routes in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Hubová. Together, they have a total length of 15 km. One of these routes is the Černová–Bystrá dolina cycling route, which is 5.8 km long. This records both the entire marked route network and one individually named connection.
