Liptovská Teplá – Hotels, Manor Houses and the Váh

Culture

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Philip and St. James in Liptovská Teplá is a single-nave Early Gothic building with a rectangular presbytery end and an attached tower dating from around 1280. The interior contains wall paintings by Jozef Hanula from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The village’s architectural heritage also includes the late Renaissance manor house in Liptovská Teplá, a two-storey, block-like building with five bays and a mansard roof dating from the second half of the 17th century.

Another manor house in Liptovská Teplá has a Baroque extension and alterations to the interiors on the upper floor dating from the second half of the 18th century. One of its rooms retains a decorative Rococo stove made of white majolica.

History

The Madočany Manor House in Liptovská Teplá is a Neoclassical manor house dating from 1830. It included a park and farm buildings, which were constructed between 1830 and 1832. The Dvornikovič family manor house is not open to the public and can only be viewed from the adjacent road.

Nature

The meadows northeast of Liptovská Teplá offer walks towards Dvoriská Hill. Near Madočany, the Madočany Swing stands on a solitary pine tree in a meadow near Madočany in Liptovská Teplá. From there, views extend across the Low Tatras, parts of the Choč Mountains and the Western Tatras. The walk from Madočany to the Madočany Swing takes about half an hour.
