Iňa between history, rolling hills and community life

Iňa combines its landscape and history with a calendar of seasonal events. If you compare a place not only by a single highlight, various topics can be considered side by side here: geographical setting, inherited past, visible memorial sites, activities and seasonal dates. When choosing a location, you can weigh these aspects separately.

Landscape and setting

Geographically, Iňa lies in the northeastern part of the Podhorská pahorkatina. The deforested, hilly cadastral area of Iňa consists of younger Tertiary clays with gravel and sand; loess predominates at the surface. Agricultural land accounts for 93% of Iňa’s land area; of this, 79% is arable land and 13% is permanent crops.

Terrain, subsoil and land use represent three different characteristics of the location. This makes it possible to distinguish Iňa by its landscape form, geological composition and land use. These three levels describe the location from different perspectives and prevent the hilly surroundings from being classified solely by a single characteristic.

History and memorial sites

Iňa was first mentioned in writing in 1156. A parish already existed in Iňa at the beginning of the 14th century. Construction of the Kostol Ružencovej Panny Márie church began with funds from a public collection; the church was consecrated in 1866.

In front of the local church stands a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. Iňa also has a memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars. The Iňa municipal memorial room conveys the community’s history, customs and way of life.

Activities and annual calendar

The children’s and workout playground in Iňa was completed in July 2024 and ceremonially opened in September 2024. Iňa’s regular calendar of events includes creative Easter workshops.

Stavanie Mája is listed in Iňa as an event held in May. Iňa’s December calendar includes Christmas markets. In August, Iňa’s regular calendar of events features a goulash cooking competition.

The various dates provide different points of reference for planning the year. Depending on the travel period, cultural events, seasonal markets, workshops or a culinary competition can therefore be considered as separate calendar aspects.

A hotel in Iňa can be assessed for your own travel planning based on travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. These details mark different aspects of the selection: the time frame, the desired type of room and the contractual conditions. This keeps the accommodation question separate from the facts about the location. In your own planning, these details can be interpreted in different ways: the travel dates set the time frame, the room category describes the intended type of room, and the cancellation conditions concern contractual flexibility. Together, they form an organisational framework for comparison that remains independent of which landscape, history or event topics are relevant for the travel period.

Other place names for your planning: Lok, Rybník, Veľké Turovce, Beša, Dolná Seč, Ipeľský Sokolec, Plášťovce and Horné Semerovce.
