Horné Semerovce is located on the southeastern edge of the Ipeľská pahorkatina, in the Široká dolina valley of the Štiavnica. The location combines a clearly identifiable landscape with notable buildings and a designated cycling route. Nature

Lake Okrúhle jazero extends into the cadastral area of Horné Semerovce. The village’s natural heritage also includes Hornosemerovský park. It is a protected landscape area (CHA) in Horné Semerovce and covers 118,791 m²; its protection dates back to 1984.

Culture

The Church of All Saints, Kostol Všetkých svätých in Slovak, is originally Gothic and was built on older foundations. The southern portal features a runic inscription on the architrave, as well as traces of a fresco in the ogee-shaped tympanum. The church is listed in the Central Register of the Slovak Monument Fund under number 1603/0 and belongs to the parish of Hokovce.

The crypt of the Stainlein-Saalensteinovci family has a T-shaped floor plan and contains burial niches for 31 members of noble families. This adds a detail to the historical heritage that reveals not only the building’s external form but also the history of how the site was used.

Another distinctive building is the Wilczekovský manor house, Wilczekovský kaštieľ in Slovak. It was built in the Baroque style in 1763. Its U-shaped floor plan faces a park. The masonry bell tower of Horné Semerovce dates from the beginning of the 18th century. The solid structure has a square floor plan and pentagonal sound openings. The bell tower is in good condition and continues to serve its purpose. Together with the church and manor house, it contributes to the architectural features that can be identified particularly clearly in Horné Semerovce.

Cycling Route

The 45-kilometre Šahanská trasa cycling route includes the Horné Semerovce–Hrubá Hora section. It runs along paved and unpaved farm roads and is designated for cross bikes. The route complements the cultural and landscape features with a specific connection for cycling, while taking into account the different road surfaces.
