Tehla lies in the northern part of the Pohronská pahorkatina on the right bank of the Liska stream between the Žitava and Hron rivers. The gently rolling hilly landscape of Tehla is largely forested, especially with oak woodland. Thus, both the named waterways and the wooded hills are established features of the locality. History

The first written mention of Tehla dates from 1251. The churches can also be clearly assigned to specific periods. The Roman Catholic Church of Ružencovej Panny Márie in Tehla was built in 1957. The Reformed Church in Tehla was built in the first third of the 19th century. Thus, Tehla is home to both a first written record and two churches with distinctly different construction dates. The names of the places of worship remain unchanged, as do their respective dates.

Events

In 2024, the Three Kings Chess Tournament was among the traditional events in Tehla. The Christmas markets were also among the traditional events in Tehla in 2024. In 2025, Tehla hosted Tehlianske Babie leto. Each of the named events has its own name and is associated with the year 2024 or 2025, respectively.

Cycling Route

The regional MERIDIEM 2122 cycling route passes through Tehla and, behind the village at a forester’s lodge, turns into a smaller forest, through which it leads to a turnoff for Veľký Ďur. The route is therefore defined both by its passage through Tehla and by the connection between the two named places.
