Tekovský Hrádok can be viewed through its settlement history, its location on the Hron, and several cycling and water routes that begin or pass through the area. Culture

A Neolithic settlement of the Linear Pottery and Lengyel cultures has been archaeologically documented in Tekovský Hrádok. Archaeological finds also include Slavic ramparts from the 9th and 10th centuries. These three references lead from visible remains through a recorded castle to a historical settlement name.

Another historic building is the Reformed (Calvinist) Church of Tekovský Hrádok. It was originally built in 1780 as a toleration church and completely rebuilt in 1889. The Calvinist church is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose.

Geographical Setting

Tekovský Hrádok lies on the right-bank floodplain of the Hron in the northeastern part of the Danubian Lowland. Railway line 152 between Štúrovo and Levice runs south of the built-up area. A railway stop is located in the cadastral area of Dolný Tekovský Hrádok. Thus, the river floodplains, the location within the Danubian Lowland, and the railway connection are clearly identifiable geographical features of the village.

Nature

The routes described for the Hronský Triatlon also directly include Tekovský Hrádok. The 5 km paddling route runs on moderately flowing water and ends on the right bank at Tekovský Hrádok. The cycling route starts at Tekovský Hrádok and follows a farm track and a grass-covered embankment along the Hron towards Turá.

For mountain biking, the MERIDIEM 2122 route is 28.2 km long and classified as a moderate SPORT MTB route. It runs over asphalt, paved paths, and farm and forest tracks. In addition, the planned blue regional cycling route MERIDIEM (No. 2122) connects Trávnica with Tekovský Hrádok. It ends there at the junction with the existing yellow route 8103 “Levice–Bardoňovo”.
