Hotels in Ivanka pri Nitre: Culture, Archaeology and Leisure
In Ivanka pri Nitre, cultural history, outdoor activities and local production exist side by side. Churches from different periods, archaeological discoveries and several specific leisure destinations form the different aspects of the town.
Culture
The Kostol sv. Martina Church was built in 1769–1771 on the site of, or near, a medieval church from the 14th century. The current tower of the Kostol sv. Martina Church was built in 1883 and leans 151 centimetres forward from its axis. The church is a cultural monument. The combination of its construction period, possible medieval predecessor and distinctive tower position makes the individual historical features of the place of worship clearly identifiable, without specifying the exact relationship to the older building.
An archaeological site with a settlement from the Early Bronze Age is located in Ivanka pri Nitre. Archaeological finds include an imperial crown of the ruler Monomach and a gold coin. Archaeologists also discovered an Old Slavic settlement in Ivanka pri Nitre dating from the time of Pribina and Svätopluk. In addition to the visible church buildings, settlement remains and individual artefacts are therefore also part of the town's history.
The late Renaissance Kostol sv. Benedikta, des Abtes Church was built in 1616–1632. The burial site of the Hungarian Interior Minister Viliam Tóth is located in one of Ivanka pri Nitre's cemeteries.
Leisure
Ivanka pri Nitre offers various forms of leisure, including a nine-hole golf course, the first of its kind in the Nitra region. In the south of Ivanka pri Nitre, the former gravel pits form a popular recreational area for local residents, people from the surrounding area and anglers. The greyhound racetrack is also located in Ivanka pri Nitre.
A cycling tour from LYRA follows a marked cycle path through Ivanka pri Nitre and to LYRA Park. The route connects the starting point at LYRA with the town and the park mentioned, while the golf course, the former gravel-pit landscape and the greyhound racetrack are further independent destinations in the town.
Transport connections
The greyhound racetrack is approximately 200 metres from the stops for city line 12 and the intercity bus, and approximately 1,500 metres from the railway station. Both distances should be understood as approximate values.
Local production
LYRA put its own chocolate production line into operation for the first time in its own premises in Ivanka pri Nitre. The production site is therefore one of the specifically named local points of reference alongside churches, archaeological sites and leisure activities.
Occupancy, included services and price components also count towards the calculation; before booking, booking and cancellation conditions may also play a role.
