Landscape and Water

Ľudovítová lies in the southeastern part of the Nitrianska sprašová pahorkatina, on a small elevation on the right bank of the Nitra. The municipality covers just under 188 ha and extends on both sides of the Nitra. This geographical location is closely connected with the fishponds in the village. They were created by separating and artificially damming former channels of the Nitra. The fishponds of Ľudovítová are considered a popular place for anglers and also serve a recreational function.

Leisure

For fishing, the Ľudovítová municipal office issues fishing permits immediately upon oral application. Ľudovítová also has a multifunctional sports field on plot no. 198, with artificial turf, fencing and boards for ball games, as well as a children's playground. Both facilities are used for activities by residents and visitors.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua in Ľudovítová is a Baroque chapel built in 1773. It has a rectangular floor plan, a semicircular apse and a roof turret. The manor house is also part of the village's history: it dates from the 18th century, initially belonged to the Nyárki family and later, until 1950, to the Ghylányi family. A park of just under 2 ha, with trees from Europe and overseas, extended around the manor house.

On 13 June, the feast day of Saint Anthony, solemn services and the local church feast take place in Ľudovítová. Another historical landmark stands at Torokmezo, also called Turecké pole. At the boundary between Ľudovítová and Výčapy-Opatovce, a Turkish Cross stands there as a reminder of the defeat of the Turks.

Archaeology

The Telkek archaeological site lies on a rise in the terrain 250 metres south of the cemetery chapel. Excavations at Telkek uncovered several pottery shards from the Neolithic and Eneolithic Maďarovce culture.

On the Way

A short cycling tour follows Route 5114 from Podhorany via Mechenice and ends after 3.5 km in Ľudovítová. This also means that the municipality is listed as a destination for a manageable cycling tour.
