History
Two lines of ditches lie in the cadastral area of Kamenný Most near the Hron. They flank a rampart known as “spečený val”, which probably dates from the Roman period. The single-nave Baroque Church of St Maurice, Kostol sv. Maurícia, in Kamenný Most was built in 1746. Its interior paintings were created by E. Massányi in 1959; the church tower was renovated in 1957.
Culture
The local traditional dress known as “kurtaszoknya”, meaning short skirts, has been worn in Kamenný Most since the distant past. In ethnographic literature, the designation “kurtaszoknyás hatfalu” refers to six villages along the lower Hron, including Kamenný Most, called Kőhídgyarmat in Hungarian; their traditional dress is characteristic. Shared features of the traditional dress of these six villages include the short skirt and red boots.
The municipality of Kamenný Most organizes cultural events every year together with local organizations, including wine tastings. Thus, alongside archaeological and ecclesiastical heritage, living forms of local culture also feature on the calendar.
