Prasice: Between Duchonka, Forest and Culture

In Prašice, nature, water, trails and architectural heritage come together across several clearly distinguishable settings. The northern part of the village and the historic buildings form different points of reference. The villagescape is complemented by an extensive, branching educational trail with a connection via Prašice.

Nature

The northern part of Prašice is covered by the forests of the Považský Inovec mountain range. The Duchonka recreational area is also located in the north, in a birch grove near a 17-hectare reservoir. The Duchonka recreational centre includes a sandy beach on the western shore of the reservoir. Boating and surfing are possible at the Duchonka Reservoir. This means that, in one specific location, the forested landscape of the mountain range stands alongside access to the water and the leisure activities mentioned above.

Hiking

The Náučný chodník Považský Inovec educational trail is 60 km long, including the branches to the villages. It is self-guided and designed as a branching linear trail with ten branches. The trail can be walked in both directions and is suitable for pedestrians year-round. The educational trail also has a connection via Prašice. Its structure is therefore not limited to a single direction of travel but comprises a branching network of trails with several connections.

Culture

The Roman Catholic Church of Kostol sv. Jakuba was originally built in the Gothic style and remodelled in the Baroque style between 1758 and 1760. Its main altar is Neoclassical and dates from the end of the 18th century. A bell from Kostol sv. Jakuba dates from 1800. The church and its furnishings therefore reveal several historical styles and dates at one location.

The chapel Kaplnka Sedembolestnej Panny Márie, built around 1820, stands in the cemetery of Prašice. Masses for the dead are held in the chapel. Another building is the Lovecký zámok – kaštieľ, which was built in 1930–1931. The Lovecký zámok – kaštieľ near Duchonka is a small, single-storey building with a mansard roof in the style of old German hunting lodges. The interior of the Lovecký zámok – kaštieľ is not open to the public; its exterior and surroundings can be visited.

Those considering Prašice as a destination can choose a hotel or other accommodation based on their own priorities. Nature, water, hiking and culture stand as distinct themes and can be weighted differently depending on the individual travel plan. For budget-conscious planning, it is useful to compare options by considering not just a single activity but the character of the entire stay. Depending on personal preferences, the focus may be on the landscape, water, trails or architectural heritage. Hotel and other accommodation options in Prašice can then be viewed and compared. This allows travellers to clearly organise their priorities and compare offers objectively.
