Krušovce: Manor House, Church and Historic Parks

Kaštieľ Krušovce is a two-storey Neoclassical manor house built in 1830 on older foundations by Count František Beréni. In 1906, the building was remodelled into its present form.

Culture

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built around 1240 in the Romanesque style; its earliest written mention dates from 1285. Remains of the former fortifications have been preserved at the church, indicating the defensive character of the building. It serves as the parish church of the local parish. Krušovce was also characterised by the production of crocheted blankets made from white or coloured yarn.

Landscape

The historic park in Krušovce covers an area of 6.23 hectares and is listed as a national cultural monument under registration number 11248/1-7. It includes a leisure zone with a multi-purpose court, a running track and a long-jump facility. The cadastral area of Krušovce also offers the possibility of several-kilometre hikes.

The Park pri kaštieli, together with Kaštieľ Krušovce, forms a harmonious landscape ensemble and covers 6.50 hectares. It originated from a Baroque French park laid out in the mid-18th century and was expanded into an English landscape park at the beginning of the 19th century. A path divides the park into two large areas: in the southwest, predominantly exotic trees stand among smaller meadow areas, while in the northeast, native trees and two larger meadow areas predominate.

Transport

Krušovce is connected to road I/64, which serves as the municipality’s main north–south transport route. The single-track, partly electrified railway line No. 140 from Nové Zámky via Šurany, Nitra, Lužianky and Topoľčany to Prievidza also runs through Krušovce. The line has a track gauge of 1,435 mm and is 113 km long.

Events

On 30 April 2025, a decorated maypole was erected in front of the cultural centre in Krušovce; the event was associated with this traditional custom. The Hodové slávnosti also took place in Krušovce on 12 and 13 September 2020.
