Kuzmice – Historical Traces and Hotels

Kuzmice is located in the northwestern part of the Nitrianska sprašová pahorkatina loess uplands, along the middle course of the Zľavy stream. A historical connection to the area leads to Vítkovce: the settlement is now part of Kuzmice, lies 1 kilometre from Kuzmice and is mentioned under the name Vincenti for the years 1332 to 1337.

Landscape and Natural History

In the part of the Kuzmice cadastral area known as Hájiky, remains of a mastodon skeleton were found in a sand pit. Another find from the village is a fragment of a mastodon lower jaw, discovered in Kuzmice in 1960 and considered to be of worldwide significance.

Cycle route 8101 passes through Kuzmice and ends at the Izát locality. The route is classified as an easy, paved recreational cycling route on roads.

Culture and History

Vítkovce has several historical associations. The Church of St. Stephen in Vítkovce is an early Gothic church.
