Culture

In Behynce, the Roman Catholic church Kostol Ružencovej Panny Márie was built as a chapel in 1905 and converted into a church in 1998. The two years clearly mark the building’s original function and its later conversion.

The church Kostol sv. Jána Nepomuckého was originally built as a Baroque church in 1692 and remodelled in the Neoclassical style in 1853. Its main altar dates from 1804. Also dated to 1804 is the altarpiece of Saint John of Nepomuk, created by František Schona. The construction, remodelling and furnishings of this church building can thus be distinguished using several specific years.

Events

The RIPFEST music festival has been held annually in Veľké Ripňany since 2006. The Slovak folklore ensemble Slovenský folklórny súbor Ripín was founded around 1986 or 1987. In 2021, a public exhibition entitled Mohyly z doby bronzovej vo Veľkých Ripňanoch was prepared at the Veľké Ripňany Community Centre. These cultural references thus combine a regularly held music festival, a folklore ensemble founded around the mid-1980s, and an exhibition from 2021.
