Dravce – Hotels, Gothic Church and Stone Bridge
Dravce lies on the southern slopes of the Levočské vrchy. At the same time, the village is located on Main Road 18 between Levoča and Poprad, about 8 km from Levoča. Thus, the village location brings together a connection to the mountain range and the link between the two cities. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Dravce to Pod Vtáčím vrchom. Its total length is 3.3 km. The road location and the hiking trail therefore indicate both a connection between two cities and a clearly measured route.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Elizabeth in Dravce is originally Early Gothic and dates from the second half of the 13th century. Its wall paintings date from the late 13th century and the mid-15th century. In addition, the church is a stop on the Gothic Route. Inside, there is a carved Gothic Calvary depiction. The bell tower in Dravce contains a bell dated to 1516. The church therefore combines architectural form, dated paintings, a named route connection and individual sacred furnishings.
In 1263, Dravce was mentioned as a settlement of royal falconers. In 1288, an Antonine monastery was founded in Dravce. A xenodochium was established next to the Antonine monastery at the end of the 13th century and is described as the oldest hospital in the Spiš region. The years mentioned refer to different stages in the history of the village, progressing from the settlement's mention through the founding of the monastery to the institution established next to the Antonine monastery.
A stone road bridge in Dravce is listed in Slovakia's Central Register of Monuments. Its arch is visible from only one side because one side was clad in concrete during the construction of the bypass road. In this structure, the listing in the monument register and the structurally caused one-sided visibility exist side by side.
When comparing hotels in Dravce, open the respective offer pages and, before booking, first check the exact location, type of accommodation and possible occupancy. The included services and price components are also important for a transparent cost comparison. Read the booking and cancellation conditions as well as the rules for changes carefully. When planning on a budget, it helps to pay attention to which costs are already shown and which items are listed separately. Also check whether the stated occupancy matches your travel plans and whether the price applies per night, per room or for the entire stay. Pay attention to possible differences between flexible and non-changeable rates, as well as to whether additional costs are listed separately. A comparison remains transparent if you read the same fields for several offers in the same order. This places location, type of accommodation, occupancy, services, price components, and change and cancellation rules side by side, without requiring unchecked assumptions about individual offers.
