Preschau: Hotels and Accommodation

The Prešov Region occupies northeastern Slovakia and stretches from west to east. It borders Poland to the north and Ukraine to the east.

Nature and Trails

Poloniny is the only area in Slovakia where a free-roaming population of European bison can be found. Slovak Paradise National Park protects a landscape of karst plateaus, gorges, waterfalls, and caves.

The High Tatras are part of the Prešov Region and are particularly popular with hikers. The cross-border Veľká Ravka–Kremenec–Nová Sedlica route runs through Poloniny National Park. The cross-border Wetlina–Riaba skala–Runina route, established in 2013, also runs there.

The Driečna–Puławy cycling route passes through Medzilaborce and continues toward Poland. Ski Drienica has 5 km of groomed cross-country ski trails. The seasonal bicycle bus programme in the Prešov Region is intended to serve up to eight destinations on 17 routes.

Culture and History

The Dubník mines are considered a site unique in the world as the location of the oldest opal mines. From 1 October to 31 March, the opal mines offer only one regular tour due to the hibernation of bats; this tour does not enter the hibernation sites.

The Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce was officially founded by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic in 1991. It was scheduled to reopen its renovated exhibitions on 4 September 2026.

The Ľubovňa Open-Air Museum includes a wooden Greek Catholic church dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and built in 1833. Ľubovňa Castle offers exhibitions, a visit to the palace of the Ľubomírsky family, and a climb to the tower.

During the archaeological festivals, the Hanušovce Archaeopark hosts craft activities with kilns for ceramics, glass, bread, and bronze. The Hanušovce nad Topľou Archaeopark presents five dwellings from five periods of prehistory and the Early Middle Ages.

Spišský hrad Castle can be reached on foot from the car park below the castle in approximately 10 minutes, and from Spišské Podhradie in approximately one hour. A visit to the Solivar Museum grounds takes about 90 minutes and is limited to a maximum of 45 visitors per admission.

Spa

The covered colonnade of the Bardejov spa resort contains eight different mineral medicinal springs. There are hiking trails on the grounds of the Bardejov spa resort. The resort's facilities also include an open-air museum of folk architecture.
