Lučivná combines sacred art, castle history, winter sports and spa tradition. The village is centered around two churches, Lučivná Castle, the snowpark and Tatranské Kúpele Lučivná with its extensive forest park. There are also convenient connections via the motorway, railway station and a cycle path between Lopušná dolina and Lučivná.

Culture and History

The Catholic church in Lučivná was built in the Classical style and dedicated to Saint Martin the Bishop. The painting “The Good Shepherd” by Peter Michal Bohúň is located in the Protestant church. Lučivná Castle also bears several clearly identifiable traces of its history: The foundation stone was laid around 1450, before the Tököli family had the castle rebuilt in the Renaissance style in 1584. The Sakmáry-Varadi family cemetery belonging to Lučivná Castle has been preserved to this day.

Winter Sports

Lučivná Snowpark has four ski lifts. Its facilities include 1.5 km of ski runs and 3 km of cross-country skiing trails. There is also a snow tubing track. The snowpark offers panoramic views of the High Tatras.

Spa and Forest Park

The treatment tradition of Tatranské Kúpele Lučivná dates back to 1872. Tatranské Kúpele Lučivná extend across more than 47 ha of a forest park. The facilities make a significant contribution to the treatment of non-tuberculous respiratory diseases in children and adults.

Getting There and Cycle Path

Lučivná Castle is 1.5 km from the Mengusovce motorway exit on the D1. From Lučivná railway station, the castle can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes. A new cycle path between Lopušná dolina and Lučivná was opened to the general public on 6 June 2021.
