Liptovská Teplicka: Mountain Landscape, Local History and Ways Outdoors

Liptovská Teplicka combines visible traces of mountain farming with a diverse local history and concrete ways to explore the landscape. The town’s various facets include historic buildings, museums, terraced fields and the SKI PARK.

Culture

The Kostol sv. Jána Krstiteľa church is a Roman Catholic church built in the Baroque style and consecrated in 1759. In the Stodolište in Liptovská Teplička, there are 117 barns that the municipality uses for exhibitions during local events.

The Zemiakové pivnice are potato cellars dug vertically into the ground to a depth of approximately 2.5 to 3 metres. In Liptovská Teplička, 419 of these Zemiakové pivnice have been preserved; they are still used to store potatoes.

The Teplická izba Museum presents an exhibition about the municipality’s traditional crafts, complemented by a photo exhibition. Visits to the Teplická izba can be arranged at least 24 hours in advance by telephone or in person at the Liptovská Teplička municipal office.

The House of Mons. Štefan Náhalka includes a memorial room dedicated to the municipality’s distinguished son, as well as an exhibition about traditional rural domestic culture in Liptovská Teplička. Here too, visits must be booked at least 24 hours in advance; arrangements can be made by telephone or in person at the Liptovská Teplička municipal office.

The Cesty predkov Museum was established in 2023 following the renovation of the former fire brigade equipment station. It explores emigration to Ukraine and Hungary. The Pod Kráľovou hoľou folklore celebrations began in 1996 as a commemoration of the anniversary of the municipality’s first written mention. According to the accounts of the oldest residents, inhabitants of Liptovská Teplička also erected the Americký kríž as a sign of gratitude after returning safely from America.

Landscape

The terraced fields of Liptovská Teplička are historic landscape structures. Under the conditions of a mountain region, they have been recognised as characteristic features of the landscape. Their form thus points to the special connection between agricultural use and the natural conditions of the area.

Outdoors

The Okolím Liptovskej Tepličky educational trail follows a 6 km route with nine stations. The route to Kráľova hoľa begins and ends at the bus stop and car park in Liptovská Teplička. The route to Kráľova hoľa is considered a moderately difficult high-mountain hike with a comparatively long and strenuous ascent.

Winter

SKI PARK Liptovská Teplička has three lifts, including a school lift and a children’s lift. The car park is located directly next to the lifts.
