At Kremenec, the borders of Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine meet. The cross-border route Veľká Ravka–Kremenec–Nová Sedlica was established in 2013; the cross-border route Wetlina–Riaba skala–Runina was also established in 2013.

Nature

The Stužica NPR is located in the cadastral area of Nová Sedlica and preserves extensive original forest stands with a primeval-forest-like structure. Bears, wolves and European bison live permanently in the Stužica NPR.

Rare animal species can be found in the protected area around Sninský kameň. Mount Patria is located in the vicinity of Snina District. The mountains Vysoký, Čerbania and Ščob are also located in the vicinity of Snina District.

Ranč pod Sninským kameňom offers horse-riding activities for all ages and experience levels, including rides along forest paths and through meadows with views of the Vihorlat Mountains.

Hiking and cycling

The Zemplínske Hámre Tourist Information Centre provides information about hiking and cycling routes as well as Poloniny National Park. It is located near the quarry at the start of the main routes to Sninský kameň and Vihorlat; free parking is available there for visitors.

The hiking trail from Zemplínske Hámre to Sninský kameň begins at the car park by the quarry and follows a yellow-marked hiking trail to the Tri tably saddle. From the Tri tably saddle, a red-marked hiking trail leads to the summit plateaus of Sninský kameň; both plateaus can be reached via iron ladders.

The Sninské Rybníky–Zemplínske Hámre cycling route follows long-distance Carpathian cycling route 016 through the Vihorlat Mountains. At the Čierťaže signpost, this cycling route connects to yellow-marked cycling route 8903.

Culture and history

The Múzeum Zemplínske Hámre is housed in the municipality's oldest building, a stone building from the early 19th century that originally served as accommodation for the management of the ironworks. It features two permanent exhibitions: one on the history of mining and iron processing in the Vihorlat Mountains, and an ethnographic exhibition on the folk architecture, agriculture, crafts and folk costumes of the inhabitants of the Josefsthal settlement.

Sninský kaštieľ offers a cultural programme with exhibitions, concerts and other events, as well as a permanent exhibition on the art and history of the region. The Klasicistický kaštieľ in Snina was completed by Jozef Rholl in 1800.

A bell tower from the second half of the 17th century stands by the church in Topoľa; the iconostasis dates from the mid-18th century and includes several icons from the 17th century. The church in Uličské Krivé has a Baroque iconostasis from the 18th century; some icons date from the 16th century.

The Zřícenina Jasenov ruin is located in the wider regional surroundings of Snina District.
