Culture

On a hill above Kšinná stands the Church of St. Cosmas and St. Damian. Its construction is dated to the years 1230 to 1250. The interior contains a layer of wall paintings dating from the 14th century. A monumental depiction of Saint Christopher with the Christ Child has been preserved on the south façade. The church is listed as a cultural monument in the Central Monument Register of the Slovak Republic.

To visit the interior of the Church of St. Damian, the municipal office in Kšinná must be contacted. The archaeological evidence also reaches far back: excavations in Kšinná attest to a Neolithic settlement and a Lusatian culture urnfield from the Late Bronze Age.

Another religious building in the village is the Lutheran church in Kšinná. It is a Neoclassical single-nave sacred building from 1814; its interior contains an 18th-century altarpiece depicting the Resurrection.

The Bukovina folklore group is part of the local tradition. It draws its folkloric material from Kšinná. Its first program in 1971 was the traditional Kšiňanská svadba. The group also regularly organizes a carnival procession through the village. The Jánske ohne event in Kšinná was announced for the 34th time in 2026.

Landscape

Kšinná lies in the southern part of the Strážov Mountains, in the valley of the Radiša stream, at an elevation of 350 meters. The village location, valley setting and elevation are therefore closely interconnected and provide the destination with a clearly defined geographical position within the mountain range.

Hiking

The village district of Závada pod Čiernym vrchom is a starting point for hikes into the Nitrické vrchy. From there, a green-marked trail leads via Capárka, which is 924.1 meters high, to Valaská Belá. In addition, a blue-marked trail leads from Závada pod Čiernym vrchom to Chata pod Čiernym vrchom. The two marked routes name different destinations and run via or to clearly identified points.

Winter Sports

Two ski lifts are located on the northeastern slope of Plešivec, which reaches 722.5 meters, in Závada pod Čiernym vrchom. Ski Park Závada pod Čiernym Vrchom has a large and a small ski lift; the small lift is suitable for children and beginners. The ski park also offers two intermediate downhill runs. The stated run length is 1,010 meters.

Those comparing a hotel or other accommodation in Kšinná can evaluate the specific offers according to their own priorities. Before completing a booking, it is worth checking the exact location, type of accommodation, occupancy and included services. Price components as well as booking and cancellation conditions should likewise be clearly stated. The options can be viewed and compared side by side without attributing features to any individual accommodation that are not included in the respective offer. This keeps the differences between the options transparent; the historic sites, trails and winter sports destinations remain the focus independently of this.
