Kyselica focuses on a sacred history centred around the Church of Saint Rosalia. It was built in 1898, erected as a thanksgiving after the end of the plague in 1831, and dedicated to Saint Rosalia of Palermo.
Culture
The church has memorial plaques commemorating the municipality’s residents who fell in the First and Second World Wars in the years 1914–1918 and 1939–1945; the plaques were installed in 1993. Another memorial plaque commemorates the 800th anniversary of the first written mention of Kyselica and was installed in 2005.
The Vitus Cross at the entrance to Kyselica was erected at the beginning of the 20th century. Kyselica’s cultural centre, built in 1938, formerly also served as a venue for the local amateur theatre.
Water and Connections
The Vojka nad Dunajom–Kyselica ferry connects two parts of Kyselica’s cadastral area across the feeder canal. It operates year-round at regular half-hour intervals. The feeder canal of the Gabčíkovo Hydroelectric Power Station is used as a waterway of international importance.
Routes
The Báč–Kyselica section of the SacraVelo cycle route was built in 2020. The cycle route runs from the ferry in Kyselica to the cycling centre in the centre of Báč.
The international EuroVelo EC-6 (001) cycle route runs along the left-bank embankment of the feeder canal of the Gabčíkovo Hydroelectric Power Station. The Danube Cycle Route 001a connects Čunovo with Gabčíkovo and runs along the right-bank embankment of the feeder canal of the Gabčíkovo Hydroelectric Power Station.
Via Slovakia is listed in Kyselica’s route network as a tourist route between Bratislava and Komárno. The M05-15 Marian pilgrimage route between Báč and Jurová is also listed in Kyselica’s route network.
The routes can initially be considered for personal planning according to activity and connection. Cycling is the main focus of SacraVelo, EuroVelo EC-6 (001) and the Danube Cycle Route 001a; the M05-15 Marian pilgrimage route is a different type of route, a hiking route. The place names and riverbank sides mentioned should be considered separately because the routes do not describe the same connection. When planning a trip with various interests, it may be helpful to note culture, cycling, hiking and water activities as separate focuses. The different designations keep the names, directions and route types clear.
A hotel comparison for Kyselica can use the travel period, room category and cancellation conditions as common comparison fields. For Kyselica, you can also note the planned travel days and the desired length of stay. If the same details are used for every hotel, differences between the offers can be compared objectively side by side without mixing the local cultural and route topics with the respective accommodation details. This makes it easier to make a sober decision based on your own priorities.
