Culture

The Reformed Church of Pataš stands in the southeastern part of the municipality. It was built in the Neoclassical style in 1794 and remodelled in the 1830s. The church is a single-nave building with a tower topped by a domed roof. Its furnishings include a masonry pulpit dating from 1834. This building therefore combines a clearly dated history of construction and remodelling with characteristic architectural elements.

A memorial plaque for the victims of the Second World War in Csilizpatas [Pataš] at the municipal cemetery commemorates 29 local residents who fell in the Second World War. The plaque is located on the wall of the mortuary, and wreath-laying ceremonies are held there every year. Next to the cultural centre of Csilizpatas [Pataš] stands the “Csilizpatas millecentenáriumi kopjafa”. The municipal administration of Csilizpatas created it in 1996 to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin.

History

The municipality of Pataš was first mentioned in writing in 1270. The grave of the Honvéd Simon Péter is located in the old cemetery of Csilizpatas [Pataš]. Simon Péter was conscripted on 7 September 1848 at the age of 20. Csilizpatas [Pataš] is also associated with the Hungarian New Year’s greeting song “Mivel új esztendőt kezdünk”, a tradition involving New Year’s singing, offering congratulations and collecting donations. In the past, this custom was widespread, and in some places it is still practised today.

Cycling

The cycling connections around Pataš are also characterised by specific route features. The Vámosszabadi–Medveďov–Boheľov cycle route is 18.7 kilometres long, flat, signposted and suitable for all types of bicycles.
