Dolny Stal: Churches, Folk House and Cycle Path

Dolný Štál is the second stop on the SacraVelo Route 3. A 200 m-long cycle path leads from Topoľnianska Street to the cemetery. There are various opportunities for fishing within a radius of 2–3 km of Dolný Štál.

Culture

In 1973, the folk house of Dolný Štál was given a new public function: The municipality acquired it from the last owner, Július Németh, and established a municipal museum there. In 1982, the building was declared a cultural monument. Today, contemporary furniture, agricultural equipment and documents are exhibited in the folk house. It serves as an exhibition on peasant living, is considered a typical example of the rural settlements of Žitný ostrov and presents the folk architecture of the Danube region in southern Slovakia.

Churches

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin in Dolný Štál was originally built in the Gothic style in the 15th century and has been a national cultural monument since 1963. It stands on Hlavná Street in a fenced but accessible area; visits must be arranged in advance.

The Calvinist church in Dolný Štál is a Classicist building dating from 1786. Its tower was added in 1825, and the building was enlarged in 1886. The church is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose.
