History

Sasinkovo is first mentioned in 1256 under the name Sag. The entry from the same year describes Sag as a settlement of royal fishermen. From 1412 onward, Sasinkovo belonged to the Hlohovec estate. These early references mark different stages in the history of the village: the first written mention was followed by its later affiliation with an estate. The mention of Sag and the later affiliation with Hlohovec therefore represent two chronologically separate stages: 1256 and from 1412 onward. Historically, Sasinkovo was also associated with agriculture and viticulture, in which the inhabitants were predominantly engaged in the past. In the earlier history of the village, agriculture and viticulture stand alongside references to fishing, the estate and religious customs. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is part of the village's religious heritage. It dates from around 1772 and represents another historical reference within the village landscape.

Landscape

Sasinkovo lies in the southwestern part of the Nitrianska sprašová pahorkatina and along an upper tributary of the Jarč stream. The geographical classification and the specific watercourse describe two different features of the location. The cadastral area contains islands of thermophilous oak woodland with black locust trees. These woodland areas stand in clear contrast to the geological foundations of the area: the surface consists of young Tertiary deposits covered by loess. Oak woodland, black locust trees, loess and Tertiary deposits are therefore among the defining natural details of the cadastral area. The Jarč and the wooded islands complement the geological character with specific landscape features.

Castle Grounds

Sasinkovo Castle is first mentioned toward the end of the 16th century. The present building is a Secession-style structure with Neo-Baroque elements and was remodelled at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to the castle building, the castle grounds also include an extensive park. Thus, the castle grounds bring together an early historical mention, a later architectural design and the associated park. The castle is currently privately owned; this status must be distinguished from its construction history and the park's status as an independent piece of information.

Churches

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Sasinkovo was built in 1802. Its high altar dates from the period when the church was built. The church is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose. At Saint Catherine's, the construction date and the high altar belong to the same historical building phase. The construction date, altar and present-day religious purpose are among the essential features of this church building.

The Evangelical church in Sasinkovo was built in 1935. It has a hall with a semicircular altar apse and an integrated tower. This church is also in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose. With its 1935 construction date, the Evangelical church adds a later chronological accent and, with its hall, altar apse and tower, displays a different architectural design. The two churches differ in their construction dates and spatial design, while their continuing religious purpose is shared by both buildings.
