Water

The Bresternica Rowing Centre comprises a rowing facility, a boathouse and an outdoor sports field. In addition, the Bresternica boathouse is located on Lake Bresternica. There, the Drava widens and flows into the reservoir area of the Mariborski otok hydroelectric power plant. The outdoor sports field was open to club members and other users.

Nature

Mariborsko jezero Lake is a landscape park of local significance covering an area of 200 hectares. The lower section of Mariborsko jezero Lake is considered a nationally significant wintering area for waterbirds. Over the course of the year, 60 waterbird species were recorded at Mariborsko jezero Lake. The records were made during systematic surveys and occasional observations.

Hiking

Žavcarjev Vrh is a 915 m-high peak in eastern Kozjak. It lies above the northern side of the Drava Valley. The hills are forested, while the southern slopes and ridges are characterised by secluded farms. The hiking trail to Žavcarjev Vrh starts in Spodnji Rušnik at a car park by the Bresterniški potok stream. The tour is easy, 4.4 km long and has an elevation gain of 513 m, with a stated duration of 1.5 hours. The Pot čez Kozjak trail leads through vineyards and orchards. It also runs through forests and stands of centuries-old chestnut trees, as well as across fields and meadows.

Culture

A concrete sculpture by Maciej Szankowski (PL), dating from 1977, stands in Bresternica. Okno is a work by Maribor's Forma Viva. It is installed outside the city.
