Wine and City History
The Oldest Vine Museum presents the heritage of the 450-year-old Modra kavčina grape variety. A visit to the museum includes a tasting of queen’s wine or fruit juice.

The Maribor Regional Museum’s “Variations – Hommage to Franz Liszt” program has been running continuously since 2016 and takes place every year in April, May, and June, as well as partly during the autumn months. It enables young musicians from Maribor and their teachers to perform in the Knights’ Hall at Maribor Castle.
Nature and Exercise
The lower station of the Pohorska VzpenjaÄŤa is located 5 km from Maribor city center and connects the city with Maribor Pohorje. The international Drava Cycle Route connects Italy, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia along a route of approximately 710 km.
Maribor City Park and its wider surroundings are protected as a monument of designed nature. The Piramida–Kalvarija nature trail leads from Maribor’s old town through the city park to the three hills of Piramida, Mestni vrh, and Kalvarija and is approximately 5 km long.
Kalvarija is a 375 m-high hill above Maribor characterized by vineyards, with an ascent of 454 steps.
Hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and skiing are possible in Pohorje. ÄŚrno jezero on Pohorje is protected as a forest reserve, along with its wooded surroundings.
Surroundings
Zgornje Radvanje is located in the immediate vicinity of Maribor and is a formation considered to be a natural arch. Also in the immediate vicinity is Mariborski Otok, a formation considered to be an island.
Žavcerjev Vrh and Žigertov Vrh are located in the surroundings of Maribor, two landscape features considered to be mountains.
In the wider regional surroundings of Maribor are graščina v Selah and Brunnsee Castle, both considered to be castles. Hügelstaudach, considered to be an ancient site, and Rotkreuz, considered to be a pilgrimage site, are also located there.
