The Kolpa River forms the southern boundary of the municipality of Metlika and is a border river. In the Metlika area, it offers opportunities for rafting; its shallow section is suitable for canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, bathing and swimming.

Nature
A 17-metre-high observation tower stands on Krašnji Vrh.
At 233 metres high, Veselica is a wine-growing and scenic hill above Metlika. Veselica is a viewpoint popular with locals and day-trippers.
Krašnji Vrh can be reached by private vehicle. By bus, Krašnji Vrh can only be reached as far as Radovica.
The Urbanova Trail begins in Metlika and leads through vineyards, past vineyard cottages, forests and fields to the highest point of the route.
Culture
The old town of Metlika has medieval roots and preserves its characteristic appearance.
The Belokranjski Museum Metlika maintains permanent exhibitions, including “Bela krajina v odsevu sedmih tisočletij” and “Ljubiteljev zaklad”.
The Slovenian Firefighting Museum dr. Branka Božiča in Metlika presents the historical development of firefighting from its beginnings to the present day. Historical firefighting items include old fire engines and equipment, helmets, uniforms, decorations and models.
Tri fare is an important monument of Bela krajina and a pilgrimage centre.
The traditional Krašnji Vrh Hiking Day is organised every year on 1 May and on the second Saturday in February.
Every Easter Monday, a crowd gathers in Metlika’s square to watch a folk-dance group perform the Wheel Dance.
Water
The Metliška pustolovščina is a circular exploration of Metlika’s old town that lasts around, or approximately, two hours and is carried out with a map, equipment and various tasks. The backpack is collected from and returned to the House of Delicacies of Bela krajina.
There are several organised campsites along the shallow section of the Kolpa River in the municipality of Metlika.
The waters managed by the Metlika Fishing Club are open to both local and foreign guests.
Regional Cuisine
The Belokranjska pogača baking workshop includes a tasting of traditional wines from Bela krajina and seasonal regional dishes. Belokranjska pogača is a dish bearing the designation “traditional speciality guaranteed”.
