Hotel in Pristava – Rafut Park and Villa Laščak

Pristava can be explored through specific places: a picturesque path leads through Rafut Park up to Villa Laščak, while the “Na šverc!” exhibition addresses smuggling in the Goriška region after the Second World War. Other attractions include Kostanjevica Monastery, historic buildings in the immediate vicinity, and destinations throughout the wider region.

Culture

The exhibition “Na šverc! Smuggling in the Goriška Region after the Second World War” is housed in the former small border crossing in Pristava. It examines smuggling in the Goriška region after the Second World War, including the smuggling of goods between Italy and Slovenia or Yugoslavia. The exhibition includes an escape room that introduces visitors to the subject of smuggling in a playful way.

Another cultural attraction is Kostanjevica Monastery. Expert presentations are regularly offered there on its Church of the Annunciation, the Škrabec Library, the crypt of the French Bourbon royal family, the sacred and cultural-historical heritage of the entire monastery, and the Bourbon rose collection in the rose garden. The crypt of the monastery church contains the graves of the last members of the French Bourbon royal family.

Nature and history

Rafut Park is protected both as a natural asset and as cultural heritage. It is located in Pristava, near Nova Gorica. Visitors can walk there among valuable mature trees and exotic plants to a unique villa in the neo-oriental style. From the gatehouse, a picturesque path leads through the park up to Villa Laščak.

Before the First World War, Anton Laščak built a villa in the neo-oriental style in Pristava. Villa Laščak was completed on Rafut Hill in 1914 and is considered unique in Slovenia and the surrounding region. The park thus brings together protected nature, the cultural and historical significance of the site, and a specific building with its own history of construction.

Places in the immediate vicinity

In the immediate vicinity of Pristava are the Museo Provinciale Palazzo Attems, a museum; Castello di Gorizia, a castle; Palazzo Arcivescovile, a palace; and Palazzo Coronini Cronberg, a palace. The different designations therefore range from a museum and a castle to two palaces.

Landscape in the wider region

The Karlhöhe summit lies in the wider region around Pristava. Also in the wider region are Mount Trstelj, Mount Jelenk, and the Veliki Rob summit.

Another route connection is provided by the Walk of Peace: it descends on the other side of the hill to Nova Gorica and back to Trg Evrope, or Piazza della Transalpina.
