Srednja Vas – Hotel, Dobrča and Rural Cultural Heritage

The mountain landscape includes the Koča na Dobrči mountain hut. The hut is located at an altitude of 1,478 metres, somewhat below Dobrča, which is 1,634 metres high. Its dining room has 40 seats; there are also 22 beds in six rooms. The menu includes hut dishes such as stews, buckwheat mush, sauerkraut, sausages, blood sausages, roasted pork ribs, cheese štruklji and apple strudel. Buttermilk is also available during the grazing season.

Twenty-two local residents took part in recording the field names, and 423 field names were collected. In their dialect form, they are shown on a printed map. This map is available free of charge from the municipal offices, the libraries in Radovljica and Begunje, and the DUB Bar in Begunje.

Domačija Srednja vas 1 is a rural homestead dating from the 19th century. It consists of a residential building with an upper floor, an outbuilding with living quarters above it, and a central well with a stone surround and water pump. Another outbuilding at Domačija Srednja vas 2 stands on the western edge of the settlement, north of the road from Begunje to Tržič. It comprises a masonry stable with a semicircular portal made of tuff stone dating from 1845, as well as a wooden upper floor with a gallery, hayloft and threshing floor.

A fire engine pump dating from 1885 was discovered under hay on a farm in Srednja Vas near Begunje and subsequently restored. The restored fire engine pump received a certificate for historic firefighting equipment. It was pulled by two horses on a 3.30-metre-long wagon, while two operators pumped water.

Pr' Trlej serves homemade regional dishes. These include sausages, sauerkraut, štruklji, locally sourced meat, omelettes, goulash, risottos, as well as potatoes and vegetables. Pr' Trlej also offers apartments and rooms with private entrances and terraces. Breakfast with ingredients from its own production is available optionally.
