The Meteorite Trail begins in Javorje, where a replica of the discovered meteorite is displayed. The trail leads to the place where the meteorite fell to Earth.

Hiking and Trails

A guided hike takes place on the Meteorite Trail every April. It begins at 10 a.m. in Javorje. Another named trail is the Javorje–Žetina–Javorje hiking trail. Its starting point is at a car park in Javorje in front of Gostilna Blegoš. The trail is considered somewhat longer, but by no means difficult. Every year on June 25 at 9 a.m., a guided hike takes place on this hiking trail, beginning in front of Gostilna Blegoš.

Another way to cross the area is offered by the Loška Cycle Route. The route is 390 kilometers long and runs through Četena Ravan, Murave, Javorje and Poljane nad Škofjo Loko. Javorje is therefore also named as one of the places along this broadly defined route.

Landscape

Mount Blegoš is located in the immediate vicinity of Javorje. The mountains Lubnik, Pasja Ravan and Kosmati Vrh are also located in the area around Javorje.

Culture and History

The religious heritage in Javorje includes the Church of sv. Tilna in Javorje pri Poljanah. Its three altars were made by Štefan Šubic and created in 1888–1889. The chapel in Javorje also houses a Gothic Pietà dating from around 1440. The chapel is decorated with frescoes by Štefan Šubic from 1861.

Another church bears the name sv. Tilna and is located in Javorje pri Delnicah. It is designated as a local cultural monument. It was originally Gothic; around 1710, it was remodeled in the Baroque style. The two churches are thus distinguished from each other by their different place names and their own historical classification.

Several cultural and historical destinations are located in the wider regional surroundings of Javorje: the ancient site of Ajdovski Gradec, the museum site Emona House Archaeological Park, Ljubljana Castle and the Prešeren monument.
