Slovenj Gradec with City History and Cycling Routes

In Slovenj Gradec, important cultural sites meet routes for cyclists and walkers. St. Elisabeth's Church is the oldest building in Slovenj Gradec and was built shortly after 1235. Its high-quality Baroque furnishings are considered one of the outstanding achievements of Baroque sculpture in the Slovenian region. The old town centre of Slovenj Gradec has preserved its original layout and is now an important urban monument. You can walk along the remains of Slovenia's highest-preserved medieval city wall. The Pavja Tura is a moderately difficult 22.5 km circular tour that starts and ends in Slovenj Gradec. The Šisernikova Pot is a more demanding 33 km circular tour from and back to Slovenj Gradec for experienced and physically well-prepared cyclists. The Suhi Dol cycling tour is an easy 19.2 km circular tour from and back to Slovenj Gradec and is suitable for all types of cyclists.

The Berneker Trail offers options for hiking, cycling and horse riding. The 28.7 km Šmarje Parish Trail connects several churches in the area around Slovenj Gradec. The Crafts Trail is a 7 km cultural-historical and ethnological trail through Šmartno, Golavabuka and Legen. Meškova pot is a 14 km trail through Sele and Vrhe.

The Plešivec Trail is a 10 km hiking trail in the Slovenj Gradec area. The Plešivec Trail leads along the edge of Mount Uršlja gora through gorges, forests and meadows. The path to Rahtelov vrh is a 4 km walking trail near Slovenj Gradec. The Roman Trail is an 11 km route in the Slovenj Gradec area. The Path to the Land of Dwarfs is a 6 km trail in Gmajna. The Tičnica Forest Educational Trail is a 2.3 km route that begins in Rožnik Park. The Green Trail with a Story is an approximately 9.3 km circular educational trail starting from Podgorje.

Perger 1757 maintains a gingerbread- and candle-making tradition dating back to 1757. At Perger 1757, visitors can learn how gingerbread hearts and wax candles are made and sample homemade sweets. AP GIN offers a visit to its microdistillery with information about distillation and Slovenian AP Gin. The visit to AP GIN ends with the mixing of gin and tonics.
