Resnik: Hiking, Cultural Landscape and Local History

Resnik is located along the 25.9-kilometre Rogla–Terme Zreče circular hiking trail. The route leads via Hotel Planja, the Nune settlement, Resnik, Ošlakova kovačija, Hotel pod Roglo, Loška gora and Terme Zreče. Its total length and the sequence of these stops form two clear points of comparison when you place different hiking options in a chronological context. The number of kilometres indicates the extent of the route, while the sequence of stops specifies its course. Both details therefore remain visible side by side for chronological classification.

Within the complex for the comprehensive protection of the cultural heritage of Južno Pohorje, the Resnik–Skomarje area is designated as an exceptional cultural landscape. The route with its stops and the cultural landscape open up two different perspectives on Resnik, which can be considered separately when planning your day.

The church “Cerkev sv. Jakoba na Resniku” is one of the smallest churches in Slovenia. It has probably stood at its present location since the 15th century. It can be visited free of charge by prior arrangement with TIC Zreče. At the church, its size, the presumed age of the site and the necessary arrangement therefore remain separate pieces of information.

In House Resnik 22, the interior preserves a stove and a substantial part of the furnishings. The layout and floor plan of the house provide insight into rural life from the mid-19th century onwards. For historical classification, the objects, layout and floor plan are different points of reference. The focus at the house is therefore on the preserved interior and the historical significance of the layout and floor plan.

The Jakobovi dnevi in Resnik took place in both 2012 and 2014. In 2014, they included a hike, a mass and a social gathering. The three components place different emphases when comparing types of events. Together, they form an event format in which physical activity, a religious programme and social gathering stand side by side.

The “Skumavčevi likovni dnevi” in Resnik are a multi-day gathering of artists, local residents and friends of Resnik. They have been held since their first edition in 2008. The works created during the “Skumavčevi likovni dnevi” in Resnik remain in the “Skumavčeva galerija” gallery in the Dom krajanov. The format thus combines the multi-day gathering with the permanent assignment of the resulting works to the aforementioned gallery.

The motorhome site in Resnik has four pitches covering a total of 200 m², as well as four electricity connections, a station for emptying toilet cassettes, and electricity and water supplies. The number of pitches and the area describe the capacity, while the electricity connections and emptying and supply facilities describe the available infrastructure.
