Rogla – Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing and Nature in Slovenia’s Pohorje

The cycling options differ considerably in format. Rogla Bike Park has nine varied forest trails and a practice course. The Zreče–Rogla A2 cycling route runs along quiet roads and scenic forest paths. This describes both several specially named park trails and a route with changing types of paths.

In Mašinžaga Park, the Flying Coaster track is 1,700 metres long. Also in Mašinžaga Park, a 1,500-metre-long gravity-powered track offers a ride for mountain tricycles. The two tracks therefore differ not only in length, but also in their respective construction and the vehicle specified for each.

Mašinžaga enables the transport of hikers, cyclists and bicycles. The function is therefore explicitly intended for people and bicycles and supplements the various sports tracks with a separate transport aspect.

The Pohorje Treetop Trail is 1,000 metres long in total and leads to a 35-metre-high tower. Inside it, there are a further 440 metres of trail. The trail thus combines a longer route with a distinctive tower and an additional section inside the structure.

The Lovrenška Lakes form Slovenia’s largest high moor and comprise 20 small lakes. The area is therefore characterised both by its landscape form and by the number of bodies of water within it.

The Pohorje–Kozjak Trail also provides Rogla with a clearly defined route. The sixth stage leads from Koča na Klopnem vrhu via forest paths to Koča na Pesku and ends at Rogla. The starting point, intermediate destination and stage finish are thus defined, as is the character of the paths in between.

Another attraction is the Zlodejevo toboggan run. It can be used year-round, regardless of the season. Thus, alongside the offerings described by sport and trail type, there is also a track whose use is explicitly not seasonally restricted.

The Pohorje Pot dish is also associated by name with a culinary speciality. The dish bears the “Tastes of Rogla” quality mark. Pohorje Pot was invented by Darinka Orlačnik, the head chef at the hotel in Rogla. The award refers to the dish itself, while its origin is linked to a specific person and her role.

Rogla can also be considered a destination for comparing different hotel options, without equating the accommodation itself with a single attraction. What matters is which priorities you set for your trip. The place names, trails and facilities provide a clear framework; accommodation is a separate decision.
