In Chyňava, the 14.5-kilometre-long Stezka česko-italského přátelství commemorates the forced stay of people from South Tyrol in Bohemia between 1915 and 1919. The trail connects to existing marked hiking trails.

Culture and History

The St. Procopius Church in Chyňava is dedicated to the patron saint of miners. It commemorates the iron mining that took place near Chyňava from the Middle Ages onwards; it was first mentioned in writing in 1396. The original Gothic church was rebuilt in the Baroque style between 1779 and 1782 and acquired its present appearance in 1914 through an extension and the addition of a new tower. It contains a historic bell cast by Master Bartoloměj in 1518. It is considered the second-oldest bell in the region and weighs 350 kg.

The Chapel of St. Florian in Chyňava was first mentioned in writing in 1854 and renovated in 2012. Chyňava's new cemetery was established in 1857 and became the final resting place of 32 Italian immigrants during the First World War. The Chyňava First World War Memorial commemorates 46 local men and young people who lost their lives in the war.
