Drahouš: Hotels and Accommodation

Drahouš lies in a sloping valley of the Drahoušský potok. The dominant landmark on the village square is the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk. It was built in 1728 by František Josef Richtersohn, secretary to Count Černín.

Culture

The village of Tlestky, which belongs to Drahouš, is home to the Tvrziště Tlestky cultural monument. The Tvrziště Tlesky fortified site lies on the eastern edge of Tlestky, on the road to Drahouš. It remains clearly visible behind the last houses, numbers 20 and 9. Archaeological investigations confirmed that the site was destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 15th century. In 2015, the Tvrziště Tlesky was cleared of non-original fill material and vegetation and equipped with an information board and a seat in the forest.

At the edge of the forest, the Smrk archaeological site preserves a circular medieval fortified site called “Šance”. The circular motte-type fortified site has a central mound about 20 metres wide and a ditch approximately 2 to 2.5 metres deep.

Landscape

The 2-kilometre-long Plávečská chestnut avenue in Drahouš ends at the Chapel of Our Lady of Altötting. It was formerly a frequently visited pilgrimage site.

There are three ponds in Drahouš: one on the village square and two directly in the course of the Jesenický potok. The source of the Rakovnický potok lies 2 kilometres east of Drahouš at an altitude of 578 metres. Its surroundings have been cleaned up, and the source has been provided with an information board.

Drahouš Quarry is a registered significant landscape feature with heat-loving communities in rocky habitats.

Food and Drink

Pivovar Kokeš is a small family brewery in Drahouš that uses local water from Drahouš for brewing.

Excursions

The “Za Tleským pokladem” circular trail leads from Jesenice via Tlestky to Drahouš. The Svatý Hubert hunting lodge is currently not open to the public. The “K zámku Svatý Hubert” circular excursion leads from Jesenice to the former Svatý Hubert hunting lodge and can be undertaken on foot, by Nordic walking or by bicycle. It also leads to the Plaviště Nature Monument.

The Kámen svatého Huberta lies about 300 metres from the former hunting lodge on a blue-marked hiking trail. In the past, the tower’s windows offered views of the long avenues used by the estate for parforce hunting; an observer in the tower signalled to the hunters where the game was located.
