At the edge of Žehrov, the Žehrovka stream flows; in Český ráj, the Žehrovka forms a picturesque valley.

Landscape

Příhrazské skály is a nature reserve within the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area. The rock area comprises 178 towers, most of which stand along the edges of gorge-like valleys.

The municipality of Žďár lies on the edge of Český ráj. The region is suitable for hiking, cycling, climbing and relaxation; many tourist routes run through it.

History and culture

The Žehrovka Valley once supplied many mills. The Žehrovská obora was established in the 1830s by the Rohans from nearby Sychrov. Hundreds of ceramic fragments dating from 500 to 700 years ago were found near a spring in what is now the Žehrovská obora; they indicate the existence of an earlier settlement there.

The Žehrov bell tower was extensively repaired and reconsecrated in 2015. Valdštejn, a church, is located in the vicinity of Žehrov.
