Hvozdnice: Hotels and Accommodation

Hvozdnice is situated amid forests between the Kocába and the Bojovský potok. The municipality lies in the Středočeská pahorkatina landscape, more precisely in the Brdy Mountains. At 397.3 metres above sea level, Babka Hill is the highest point in the municipal area of Hvozdnice. The municipal area also contains four ponds.

Hiking and Cycling

Hvozdnice primarily offers visitors opportunities for cycling and hiking. The blue cycle route “In the Footsteps of the Past” passes through the village. The “Blue Circuit” cycle route leads through historically interesting places in the “Mníšecký region”.

The yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Bojov railway station to Hvozdnice along a forest path. From Hvozdnice, the yellow-marked hiking trail continues through Hvozdy and Masečín to the Kocába, the Askalona settlement, and along the river to Štěchovice. A green-marked hiking trail also begins at Bojov railway station and leads to the Dlouhé louky, past a holiday settlement and the municipalities of Sloup, via Kejsíř to Davle.

History and Culture

The founding charter of Ostrov Benedictine Monastery is also the first written record of Hvozdnice’s existence. Historically, the inhabitants of the Hvozdnice settlement were obliged to supply the Benedictine monastery with charcoal.

Husův dům is a modernist parish building constructed in 1929–1930 to a design by the Czech architect B. Kozák. In front of Husův dům in Hvozdnice stands a memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars (1914–1918 and 1939–1945).

Transport Connections

From Bojov railway station, Husův dům can be reached via the yellow-marked trail after 2 km. Prague city bus line 314 serves the Hvozdnice stop.
