Kalivody: Hotels and Accommodation

The Dolíky landscape near Kalivody is part of the Džbán Nature Park. The nature park is characterized by elongated, deep valleys and extensive forests consisting predominantly of beech trees, and protects this landscape. In the Kalivodské bučiny, an area of almost 200 hectares of European importance, there are beech stands up to 150 years old.

Hiking and Trails

The hike Bučinami ke štole Jindřich is an approximately 6-kilometre circular route. It runs mainly along forest roads and paths, is not marked, and is not suitable for walks with a pushchair. The starting point is at the rest area next to the inn in Kalivody. The route leads to a shelter with play elements, including a wooden xylophone.

An information board for the educational trail Naučná stezka Kalivodské bučiny provides information about the management of the forest stands, the importance of old and dead trees for forest life, and the importance of the beech tree to people. Another information board along the educational trail on the hike provides information about coal mining in the vicinity of Kalivody and points out the Jindřich coal tunnel, approximately 50 metres away.

The circular route Za falešnou borovicí is approximately 11 kilometres long and leads from Kalivody via Bdín and Vošková Mountain to Přerubenice and back to Kalivody. It offers views of the surrounding valleys. Kalivody lies outside marked hiking trails as well as marked cycling paths and cycle touring routes.

Culture and History

The Štola Jindřich bears witness to deep mining of hard coal dating from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Stories are also told in the vicinity of Kalivody about the Lord of Kalivody with a black soul.

The hiking and Nordic walking event Kalivodské hůlkování takes place every year on the last Saturday in June and is open to anyone who would like to take part in the hike.
