Culture and History

The Kamenice Fortress and an early Gothic chapel dedicated to Saint Francis Seraphicus originally stood on the grounds of Kamenice Castle in the 14th century. In place of the original castle, the Ringhoffer family had a new Kamenice Castle built in the English Gothic Revival style from 1875 to 1880.

The grounds of Kamenice Castle are privately owned and, with the exception of the chapel, are not open to the public. The Chapel of Saint Francis Seraphicus was originally an early Gothic building dating from the 14th century and was rebuilt in 1898 according to a design by Jiří Stibral. Services are regularly held in the chapel on Saturdays.

The Ringhoffer Crypt is located on Zaječí vrch in a park-like, partly wooded area enclosed by a perimeter wall with a gate.

In the wider regional surroundings of Kamenice are Práče, a fortress, Palác Kinských, a palace, The Golz-Kinsky Palace, also a palace, as well as Galerie Rudolfinum, a museum.

Trails and Landscape

The Krajinou barona Ringhoffera educational trail is 20 kilometres long and has ten information boards. It ends in Kamenice and is connected to Prague’s integrated transport system.

The hills of Grybla, Na Padesátce, Milíř and Drnka are located in the immediate surroundings of Kamenice.
