Kochánky: Hotels and Accommodation
Kochánky lies in the fertile valley of the Jizera. The village combines protected dry grasslands and a river landscape with memories of Czechoslovak motorcycle racing and paths through the flat terrain.
Landscape and Nature
The Stráně u Kochánek Nature Monument protects formations of common juniper on heathlands or calcareous dry grasslands. It also protects the T3.4B habitat, consisting of broad-leaved dry grasslands without a significant occurrence of orchids and with common juniper, as well as the T3.3D habitat, consisting of narrow-leaved dry grasslands without a significant occurrence of orchids.
The Slepeč Nature Monument covers areas in the cadastral territory of Kochánky. It lies on the right bank of the Jizera on a gently south-facing upland, which is divided by several dry erosion gullies toward the Jizera. The nature monument is protected because it is home to the lady's-slipper orchid, which is critically endangered in the Pojizeří region.
Culture and Local History
František Šťastný Park commemorates the accomplished sports champion František Šťastný, who was born in Kochánky, as well as other racers who contributed to the success of Czechoslovak motorcycle racing. In the village center lies the site called “V Zámku,” in the area of house no. 161. Old walls were discovered there; according to tradition, a robber baron's manor once stood on this site.
Stará škola Park serves the residents of Kochánky and other visitors to the municipality as a place for passive recreation.
