Krásná Hora Nad Vltavou: Hotels and Accommodation

The Church of St. Nicholas stood in Krásná Hora nad Vltavou as early as 1350. The clock tower of the town hall, Radnice, is a distinctive landmark in the square. The Kamenný korec is also part of the townscape: a round, bowl-shaped measure on a square stone pedestal with a small opening on the side. The pedestal is younger than the bowl and bears the year 1822.

The Baroque, rounded Mariánský sloup column bears a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary and was erected around 1772. Between the church and the school stands the Památník padlým memorial, commemorating those who fell in the First World War. The Památník letců memorial commemorates three airmen who died in an accident: on 5 September 1929, a reconnaissance aircraft and a fighter aircraft collided near Přední Chlum during a military exercise.

On 11 January 1351, Charles IV confirmed Krásná Hora's privileges as a royal mining town. The gold mined there was used, together with gold from Knín and Jílové, to mint gold coins.

The town is also connected with figures from Czech culture. The ancestors of the poet Karel Hynek Mácha lived in Krásná Hora. Ema Destinová visited the “U dvou čápů” inn here.

The former Tvrz fortress had a Baroque core, was built in 1554 and later converted into a granary. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 1991.

The path to the Viklan Vindiš balancing rock passes by the Obecňák pond; the yellow hiking trail marking then follows a forest path to the rock. Viklan Vindiš lies one kilometre from the town above the valley of the Pivoňka stream, south of the summit of Na Krámcích (449 m above sea level). A sign at Viklan provides information about local history as well as native fauna and flora.

The Lesní svět educational trail, also known as the Vletická naučná stezka, runs through the area around the settlement of Vletice near Krásná Hora nad Vltavou.

In the wider surroundings of Krásná Hora are the Orlík Reservoir and the castles and castle ruins of Zvíkov and Vrškamýk.
